The name comes from the Old English word bodkin or bodekin, a type of sharp, pointed dagger. Arrows of the bodkin type were used by the Vikings and continued in use through the Middle Ages. The four sided diamond shaped point was the arrowhead of choice against armoured adversaries. This 1-1/2" beauty is a solid sterling silver white bronze casting of a old original iron wrought arrowhead. The hollow shank intended to receive the arrow shaft has been filled but I left it recessed enough to reveal the thickness of the original.
